My Story: Because Everyone Has a Story God Can Use
Every person has a story.
Some stories are filled with moments of joy and celebration. Others include seasons of struggle, loss, uncertainty, failure, healing, or unexpected change. Many of our stories contain a little bit of all of those things.
But no matter what your story looks like, God can use it.
This October, Pastor Mark will begin a new series called My Story. Rather than a traditional sermon each week, Pastor Mark will sit down with someone from our congregation and talk with them about their life, their faith, and the ways God has worked through their experiences.
These will be real conversations with real people about real life.
You may hear stories about how someone came to know Christ, how God carried them through a difficult season, how their faith was challenged, how prayers were answered, how they learned to trust God when life did not go according to plan, or how God used an ordinary experience to change the direction of their life.
The purpose of My Story is simple:
Everyone has a story that God can use, and someone may need to hear yours.
Sometimes we convince ourselves that our story is not important enough to share. We may think nothing dramatic has happened to us, or we may believe someone else’s testimony would be more meaningful.
But God does not only work through dramatic stories.
He works through ordinary lives.
He works through faithful parents and grandparents. He works through marriages, careers, friendships, illnesses, disappointments, victories, mistakes, second chances, answered prayers, unanswered questions, and years of simply learning to walk with Him.
Your story may contain exactly the encouragement someone else needs.
Someone sitting in the congregation may be facing something you faced years ago.
Someone may be wondering whether God can forgive them for something you once struggled with.
Someone may be questioning whether God is still present during a difficult season.
Someone may simply need to hear that another person has walked a similar road and discovered that God remained faithful.
That is why we want to tell these stories.
Would You Be Willing to Share Yours?
As part of the My Story series, Pastor Mark will interview members of our congregation live during the worship service.
This will be an interview-style conversation rather than a formal speech. You do not need to be a professional speaker, prepare a sermon, or have every detail perfectly organized. Pastor Mark will guide the conversation and help you share the parts of your story that may encourage others and point people toward what God has done in your life.
If you feel that God may be leading you to share your story, we would love for you to consider being part of the series.
Maybe there is a chapter of your life you have never talked about publicly.
Maybe God has brought you through something that could give another person hope.
Maybe you have seen God’s faithfulness in ways that deserve to be remembered and shared.
Or maybe you simply believe that your journey with Christ could encourage someone else who is just beginning theirs.
Whatever your story may be, it matters.
If you are ready and willing to tell your story in an interview format live in front of the congregation, please let Pastor Mark know.
You never know who may be sitting in the room who needs to hear exactly what God has done in your life.
Your story matters.
God can use it.
And someone may need to hear it.
Join us this October for My Story as we listen, learn, encourage one another, and celebrate the many different ways God is working in the lives of His people.
