Choctaw Church of the Nazarene
Begins Wednesday, January 6, 2027Healing and freedom from life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups.
A Wednesday-night ministry helping adults honestly face the places where they are hurting, struggling, or stuck—and discover healing, freedom, and transformation through Jesus Christ.
A place to begin
Some wounds are visible.
Others are carried quietly.
Grief. Anger. Fear. Shame. Resentment. Control. Broken relationships. Destructive habits. Addiction. Patterns that seem impossible to overcome.
The WAY Forward is a safe, Christ-centered discipleship and recovery ministry for adults who are ready to honestly face these struggles and discover the healing, freedom, and transformation found in Jesus Christ.
This is a discipleship ministry.
Just a group of people learning to more closely follow Jesus along the journey of life.
Who is it for?
You don’t have to have an addiction to need freedom.
This is not an addiction-only ministry. It is for any adult willing to say:
Understanding the struggles we carry
Hurts. Habits. Hang-ups.

Wounds we carry
Things that have happened to us or wounds we continue to carry.
Patterns we repeat
Repeated behaviors or coping patterns that have become unhealthy, destructive, or controlling.
Places we get stuck
Patterns of thinking, feeling, relating, or responding that keep us stuck.
These often overlap. A hurt may shape a habit; a habit may reinforce a hang-up. The goal is not to label people. The goal is to see our story honestly and invite Jesus into every part of it.

The heart of the ministry
Our goal is to help people
become more like Jesus.
Our goal isn’t simply helping people stop doing something destructive. We believe lasting transformation comes through God’s grace, the truth of Scripture, the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, and authentic Christian community.
Jesus is the WAY.
No program, workbook, leader, or group can transform a human heart. Our hope is Jesus Christ.
Grace makes transformation possible.
You don’t have to clean yourself up before you come. God’s grace meets us where we are and refuses to leave us there.
Freedom leads to mission.
The person who first walks in saying, “I need help,” may one day sit beside someone else and say, “I’ve been there. Let me walk with you toward Jesus.”
A little more about The WAY Forward
Questions you may be asking
Is this only for people facing addiction?
No. The WAY Forward is for adults facing hurts, habits, and hang-ups of many kinds, including grief, fear, shame, anger, broken relationships, and unhealthy patterns. You don’t have to have an addiction to need freedom.
What happens on Wednesday nights?
We share a meal at 5:30 PM in the gymnasium, gather for worship and practical biblical teaching at 6:30 PM in the sanctuary, and meet in gender-specific small groups at 7:15 PM in classrooms.
Do I need to have my life together before coming?
No. You don’t have to clean yourself up before you come. This ministry is for adults willing to honestly face an area of life where they need Jesus to help them heal, grow, or change.
Are there services for children and youth?
Yes. Nursery, children’s, and youth services are available as part of the Wednesday-night schedule.
What makes this a discipleship ministry?
The goal goes beyond stopping destructive behavior. We want to help people become more like Jesus through God’s grace, Scripture, the work of the Holy Spirit, and authentic Christian community.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
John 14:6
